•	Construction output down by 1.3% in the euro area

In the construction sector, seasonally adjusted production decreased by 1.3% in the euro area (EA15) and by 1.5% in the EU27 in September 2008, compared with the previous month. In August, production grew by 0.4% and 0.2% respectively.

In 2006, about three million foreign immigrants settled in a country in the EU27. These immigrants can be divided into two groups based on their citizenship: citizens of EU27 Member states (1.2 million persons) and non-EU27 citizens (1.8 million).
